This patch addresses issues that were opened subsequent to the October 3, 2003 launch of SONAR 3 Producer and SONAR 3 Studio. The items addressed in this patch are specific to the included plug-ins, not to the SONAR host application itself.
Note: This patch only applies to SONAR version 3.00, and will not work with any subsequent SONAR 3 updates such as version 3.1 and 3.1.1. The SONAR 3.1 and 3.1.1 updates include the Plug-in patch, so there is no need to apply this Plug-in patch separately if you are already using SONAR version 3.1 or 3.1.1.
IMPORTANT: READ BEFORE APPLYING PLUG-IN PATCH
If you have created any custom presets for any of the Sonitus:fx plug-ins, the custom presets will no longer be available after installing the SONAR 3 Plug-In Patch. If you wish to use any old custom Sonitus:fx presets after installing the plug-in patch, follow the instructions below in order to migrate the presets.
When the patch runs, it determines whether you have the Producer Edition or the Studio Edition and will update the target files accordingly.
Depending on which version of SONAR 3 you have installed, the following plug-ins will be updated: If you have the SONAR 3 Studio Edition.
- Lexicon Pantheon LE
- VST Adapter
If you have the SONAR 3 Producer Edition.
- Lexicon Pantheon
- Sonitus:fx Suite
- VSampler 3 DXi
- VST Adapter
IMPORTANT!
These plug-ins must be installed in order for the patch to work. Plug-ins that are not installed will not be updated. In the event that you should ever have to reinstall the plug-ins from the original CD, it will be necessary to patch them again. It is therefore recommended that you back up the S3Plug in_Patch.exe file in a safe place in case you need to use it again.
Bug Fixes
Bug fixes are listed by plug-in.
Lexicon Pantheon / Pantheon LE
- The following controls can now be automated in both the Pantheon (Producer Edition) and the Pantheon LE (Studio Edition): Damping, Mix, and Level.
- The following additional controls can now be automated in the Pantheon (Producer Edition): Regen, Delay, Left Echo Level, Right Echo Level, Diffusion, Bass Boost, and Bass Freq.
- F1 help has been added.
Sonitus:fx Suite
- Entire Sonitus:fx suite has been implemented as automatable DX plug-ins with full latency compensation.
- Sonitus:fx Delay now appears as an effect, and no longer as a DXi instrument.(Still appears in Synth Rack.)
- Sonitus:fx Reverb has two additional controls: Output (forces mono/stereo output) and Tail (adds extended tail to the end of a sound).
Fixed bug related to Undo in the EQ and Reverb plug-ins. VSampler 3 DXi
Simplified registration system: registration keys are no longer linked to your hardware. You will still enter your serial number in the online registration form, and you will get a permanent, hardware-independent registration key back. Existing registration keys will automatically be handled this way, so there is no need to get a new key.
Added:
- "GM mode" (MIDI Preferences) as bank setting. When activated, MIDI channel 10 is hardwired to bank 128 (which is used as drum bank for all imported bank formats).
- New skin "Sonar 3".
Fixed:
- Entering a program number > 127 into track properties crashed VSampler.
- Small View raised an Exception on start, if the last active rack of the Edit View was the main rack.
- Importing (not loading) instruments from .vs3 banks saved by a previous version of VSampler didn't work.
- VSB Import: wrong filter types activated.
- Beat Detector could crash VSampler when trying to play the sliced loop.
- Editfield of effect parameter values now have 0.1 resolution instead of 1 (it's 0100%, but in fact, there are 1000 possible steps).
- When copying instruments between instruments slots, the EQ settings where not copied.
- "Export Linked Bank" mis-handled sample names with more than one "." in the filename.
- Small View onscreen keyboard: the keys of the upper displayed octave didn't work.
- LFO with Sync option activated ignored LFO speed changes.
- When switching from Edit View to Small View, undocked Edit View racks were not closed.
- Applying a page template could cause a memory problem which resulted in corrupt banks.
- After adding Zones to a Cycle group the initial Cycle-Group mode was "Off".
- HALion import: combined with AIF samples the sample loop wasn't played.
Changed/Improved:
- dB values of envelope release phase are now handled as fixed values as other samplers do, no longer relative to the actual envelope level on release.
- Curve shape of envelope segments now better matches the different Import formats (SF2, Halion, VSB).
VST Adapter
New:
- Full Plug-in Delay (Latency) Compensation has been added to the VST Adapter. VST plug-ins and instruments that add latency will now be compensated properly in SONAR.
- VST Adapter offers the user the option to enable a risky plug-in that failed during scanning.
Fixed:
- Multiple Voxengo plug-ins were not being wrapped.
- 16-bit plug-ins processed only one channel of a stereo stream.
- Created a bad reg key in plug-in folder search paths.
- The faulty Sub-Divide Menu option has been removed.
- Incorrectly reported wrapped plug-ins as not being installed.

If you wish to use any old custom Sonitus:fx presets after installing the plug-in patch, follow the instructions below in order to migrate the presets.
Note: there are two ways to create presets with the Sonitus:fx plug-ins: 1) via SONAR's standard preset control and 2) via the integrated Sonitus:fx Preset Manager. Any custom presets saved via SONAR's preset control must first be saved as Sonitus presets before they can be migrated.
