Tweak Your DXi Synth Tracks
Here are a few tweaks to try when using DXi synths.
You can get some pretty amazing sounds by using these tips on their
own or
by combining them.
- To further modify the sound produced by the DXi you're
using, you can add DirectX audio effects to the synths output.
To do this, simply right click in the FX field of the audio track to
which you have patched the DXi and select the desired audio effect.
- You can route your synth output through auxiliary
buses to submix it through effects with other audio tracks. See the
tech tip on page one for more detail.
- Try placing MIDI FX on the MIDI track that you are
routing through your DXi synth. Arpeggiator and Delay/Echo in particular
can give some fantastic results.
- Smoothly and accurately automate different parameters
on your DXi synth using Envelopes. Right click on a clip in the MIDI
track and select Create Envelope | Track | MIDI and choose the parameter
you wish to automate. Double click to add nodes, drag them to different
values and points in time, and right click on the lines to select curve
types. Use this tip to create rolling filter sweeps, modulation changes,
and more. Refer to the SONAR manual or Help file for more about creating
and using Envelopes.
