• Cakewalk Home Studio 2004 Patch

The information in this article applies to:

    • Cakewalk Home Studio 2004
    • Cakewalk Home Studio 2004 XL

Three features were inadvertently disabled in the initial production runs of Cakewalk Home Studio 2004 and Home Studio 2004 XL. We discovered the error after the product shipped, so early adopters most likely have the version with disabled features. In that case, you'll need to download this patch.

    What are the disabled features?

  • Simultaneous use of multiple audio drivers was mistakenly disabled in both HS 2004 and HS 2004 XL.
  • Home Studio 2004 XL owners received disabled versions of the Audio FX1 and Audio FX2 audio effects plug-ins.
  • FX plug-in property pages will not float and therefore cannot be moved to the second monitor on a PC with a dual monitor display.
  • How can I tell if I need the free update patch?
If the serial number issued with your copy of Home Studio 2004 or Home Studio 2004 XL begins with CWHS2.20 or CWHX2.20, you should download and install the patch. If your serial number begins with CWHS2.21 or CWHX2.21, you have the latest version and no updates are required.

    Installing the patch
    1. Download and save the patch.
    2. Double-click the patch file to begin the installation process
    3. The patch will update all necessary files, leaving you with a fully featured copy of Home Studio 2004 or Home Studio 2004 XL

Make sure Home Studio 2004 or Home Studio 2004 XL is installed prior to running the patch. In order for this patch to work, you must be sure that all of the default components are installed on your system. If you opted out of some of these components during the initial installation, the patch may not be successful. This patch will locate your Home Studio files and update them appropriately. Remember, you must have Home Studio 2004 or Home Studio 2004 XL installed in order to install this patch.
