• HyperThreading Support in SONAR 3

The information in this article applies to:

    • SONAR 3 Producer Edition
    • SONAR 3 Studio Edition
    • SONAR 2

When using SONAR 3, you can keep HyperThreading enabled. SONAR itself won't attempt to leverage the quasi-dual-CPUs that HyperThreading provides, which means SONAR 3 itself will perform identically with HyperThreading enabled in the BIOS as well as off. But HyperThreading might help you slightly if you are using Rewire, since the other "virtual" CPU can do some parallel processing with the Rewire device.

We hope to deliver genuine gains in performance on HyperThreading systems in the not too distant future.

NOTE: You enable/disable HyperThreading in the BIOS. In the "Main" section of the BIOS it should read "Hyper-Threading Technology [Enabled/Disabled]".

For SONAR 2.2 to work best, you want to disable HyperThreading.
